This year, Eb, Faye, Ed, Dom and Marty spent a memorable day at Roland Garros during the annual Yannick Noah Fans Day. With a great atmosphere, some big tennis names around, and a few sweet treats along the way, it was a day to remember.
We were lucky enough to catch all of the top five men and five of the top ten women in the world on the practice courts. Watching their routines up close offered a fascinating glimpse into the precision, intensity, and focus required at the highest level of the sport. We could have stayed there all day (and very nearly did).
But then came a surprise highlight—meeting British No. 1 Jack Draper, who took time out to say hello and take a photo. We also watched Madison Keys practice, and she was all smiles as she stopped for a photo with Marty. We even had the chance to say a quick hello to tennis legend Jim Courier, a familiar face in the tennis world and still very much involved in the game as a commentator.
Between courts, we made time for a bit of a treat—some delicious macarons, which didn’t disappoint. It was a nice way to take in the surroundings and soak up the atmosphere.
Later we watched Jack Draper practicing. We are big fans of Jack as he always makes a huge effort with his fans. A friendly and humble guy, Jack took the time to give Marty a vibration dampener as a souvenir and this truly made the moment memorable.
Before we left, we had a look around the Roland-Garros gift shop. From caps to towels and a loads of souvenirs, there was plenty to choose from and something for everyone.
Yannick Noah Fans Day is all about bringing people closer to the sport, and the experience certainly did that. It was a relaxed, enjoyable day out, made even better by good company and great tennis.
