Covid-19 policy.pdf

The Government has currently indicated that physical exercise (including grass roots coaching) that takes place at a safe distance from others and in safe exercise environments is something that can continue at this time.

On the 19th of March 2019, the Department of Culture, Media and Sport specifically advised the Lawn Tennis Association (the governing body of tennis) that tennis is in fact one of the best examples of social distancing in practice and so should be encouraged as long as the guidance from the Lawn Tennis Association is followed.

As a result we have decided to remain open unless instructed to close by Public Health England or the government.

We accept that it is our responsibility to make the tennis centre as safe an environment as possible in line with the Lawn Tennis Association's guidelines.

As such we are implementing the following based on an assessment of the Tennis Centre and in line with government and Lawn Tennis Association guidelines:

We are adopting best practice in relation to social distancing:, especially before and after coaching sessions:

Our coaches will adopt low player-to-court ratios in all coaching sessions.

Our coaches will avoid close proximity when giving feedback and when players are resting.

Our coaches will encourage no physical contact between participants during coaching sessions.

We will do everything we can to avoid close proximity with our customers during interactions at reception.

If you are waiting in the building during coaching sessions please try to leave a 2-metre distance between other spectators (as defined by Public Health England).

We encourage you to drop your child immediately before their coaching session and collect your child immediately after their coaching session has finished, if this is practical.

If you choose to spectate during coaching sessions then please try to leave a 2-metre distance between other spectators (as defined by Public Health England).

Further Government information around social distancing is available here.

We are continuing to adopt best practice in relation to hygiene, especially before and after training sessions.

We ask that everyone should continue to wash their hands upon entering the tennis centre and players before and after a tennis session without exception.

We will clean and wipe down equipment, including rackets, courtside benches, cones etc after use.

We are no longer lending rackets and balls.

We are only allowing coaches to touch the balls in coaching sessions and we recommend that players avoid touching any balls.

We are making the extra time to regularly clean and disinfect the tennis centre and are encouraging all visitors to the centre to be extra vigilant in hand washing.

We have removed all toys, games, books and magazines from the communal area.

In line with the government guidelines we do ask that if you are feeling unwell, have a constant cough, a high temperature or are short of breath that you stay at home.

If you have chosen not to leave your home at the moment, please let us know asap that you will not be attending sessions.

We will make updates and changes on a daily basis, in line with the current and evolving Government advice.

Please be aware that this is liable to change at very short notice and so please check our webpage ahead of every session. We also recommend you keep checking the official Lawn Tennis Association position at the link below.

We are all trying to live as normally as possible and we hope that by staying open we can provide some normality. We are all in this together. Thanks for your support!
