“Making Champions” in partnership with local primary schools!
Last week, we were delighted to welcome the latest group of young athletes to our Tennis Centre as part of Week 4 of The Canterbury Academy Junior Sports Development Camp.
Now in its fourth year, the camp brings together selected children from primary schools across the local area to take part in a series of high-quality, inspiring sporting sessions. Designed to challenge, motivate and support young talent, the programme aims to build a foundation of key athletic skills, confidence, and a love for sport.
Week 4 focused on Tennis, and our coaching team had an absolute blast delivering a session packed with energy, learning and fun. It was fantastic to see the children engage so enthusiastically in every part of the session – from warm-ups and skill-based activities, through to movement challenges and game-play.
Using our indoor court, the session gave pupils the chance to: 🎾 Try out core tennis techniques 🏃 Work on footwork and coordination 🧠 Learn how focus and resilience can help on (and off) the court 🎉 Take part in fun team-based challenges.
Led by our team of expert coaches, the session not only gave the children a chance to develop new skills but also experience what it feels like to train in a professional environment. For many, it was their first visit to our Tennis Centre – and we were so pleased to see how quickly they found their feet (and their forehands!).
The Junior Sports Development Camp is a brilliant opportunity for children who show interest and potential in sport, and we’re proud to play a role in nurturing that spark. Whether they go on to pursue tennis, or simply carry the confidence forward into other areas of their lives, the aim is to make every child feel like a champion.
We can’t wait to see them again – and hopefully, welcome some back for more tennis in the future!
